Hogwart Socks

They're finished. The design and charts needed to be modified more than once but the end result was okay. The pattern still needs a little tweeking, so I'll work on that.

Here are my "shadow knit" Hogwart socks, in Ravenclaw colors.

And when you tilt them:

The Hogwart's "H" is on the sock on the left and the Ravenclaw "R" is encased in a shield on the right sock.

Here are the details:
Pattern: Hogwart House Socks; my own design, not yet published; 2 needle; toe up pattern with short row heel; 8 inch cuff
Yarn: elann.com Sock It to Me 4 Ply; 1 ball 46460 Steel Blue, 1 ball 41759 Platinum
Color: 46460 Steel Blue, 41759 Platinum
Gauge: 8 st/inch
Needles: US#2.5/3.0mm

My comments:
This was not only my first design in shadow knitting, but also my first time shadow knitting anything. It was fun and I learned some design tips as I went along. Once I get the right colors, I look forward to designing a pair of socks for each of the houses.

Update on WIPs

I can't believe it's April already! How time does fly. I have fallen WAY behind on my knitting. My goals for March were only half met and I have a very busy April planned. Here's an update on some of my knitting:

HSS3 sock swap: I have started the first sock (these need to be completed and mailed in 2 weeks...). These are a pattern I am designing using "Shadow Knitting". The shadow design starts with the cuff, so for now you just get to see the striped foot:

Mystic Light KAL: just over half done with the first clue, and the second clue was released yesterday. I totally changed the yarn I originally planned and went with Fleece Artist "SeaWool" , colorway: Amber. I am really happy so far:

Fleur Dolohov

That's my wizarding name. I am Fleur Dolohov, 1st year, Ravenclaw and I am part of:

My swap partner is Sage Smethwyck and she is also a 1st year Ravnclaw.

This swap does not need to mailed out until mid April, so this month I am swatching and making the design and I will knit these socks as my March socks. I have decided to make a pair of illusion socks based on this pattern:

Alice's Illusion Socks, by Alice Bell

I couldn't find the bronze for the book colors of Ravenclaw, so poor Sage will be stuck with blue and silver:

I am already having a lot of fun!
